  • 5/23/04 ShhAir: Congressman Edward Markey's remarks regarding the serious threat that Massport expansion at Hanscom Civilian Air Field poses to our national heritage sites.

  • 11/5/03 Bedford Minuteman, Globe, Lexington Minuteman: Minute Man National Historical Park will get $1.36mil in federal funds for improvements, while the Battle Road Trail will get a new tunnel so park visitors can avoid heavy road traffic.

  • 4/4/03 Bedford Minuteman, Bedford Minuteman: Voters in Concord, Lincoln and Bedford overwhelmingly approved a resolution to call on Governor Romney and other state and federal officials to protect historic and cultural resources by preventing further expansion at Hanscom. 

  • 2/24/03 Lowell Sun: U.S. Rep. Marty Meehan, a Lowell Democrat, said he has met twice with Governor Mitt Romney and with Doug Foy, the administration's economic policy chief, and both times the discussions included creating a regional air transportation plan that could take some of the pressure off Hanscom.

  • 2/2/03 Globe: ShhAir members have put a warrant article in the spring Town Meetings of Lincoln, Bedford, Concord and Lexington that, if approved, would call on state officials to block increased flight activity at Hanscom.

  • 12/19/02 Bedford Minuteman: Save Our Heritage is working on federal legislation to limit the number and type of operations at Hanscom, and researching ways to increase local control of the airport.

  • 12/5/02 Bedford Minuteman: State Rep Thomas Stanley writes that Waltham and Lexington residents are not willing to stand by if plans are developed that will expand the noise, ground traffic and air pollution from Hanscom.

  • 11/21/02 Globe: Governor-elect Mitt Romney favors maintaining, rather than expanding, general and commercial aviation and corporate jet activity at Hanscom.

  • 11/4/02 WBZ Radio: Gubernatorial candidate Mitt Romney said he is opposed to expansion at Hanscom Field.

  • 10/31/02 Lexington Minuteman: Waltham shows its opposition to Hanscom expansion by appointing Representative Thomas Stanley to HFAC. Its Committee on Community Development also passed a resolution opposing expansion.

  • 7/14/02 Globe: ShhAir member Andy Clerkin has single handedly removed a ton of trash along the historic Battle Road. Fantastic work, Andy!

  • 7/11/02 Concord Journal: Save Our Heritage intends to lobby Congress for federal legislation to rein in the growth of the Hanscom Field airport.

  • 1/20/02 Globe: As expansion plans at Hanscom push the number of daily commercial flights near 48, Save Our Heritage is urging the FAA to conduct an environmental review before allowing more.

  • 11/1/01 Lincoln Journal: Democratic gubernatorial candidates Galvin, Tolman and Grossman oppose expanded use of Hanscom. Steve Grossman scored Swift and her Republican predecessors for failing to come up with a regional transportation policy for New England that would take the pressure off airports like Hanscom.  Treasury Secretary Shannon O’Brien said airports in Worcester, New Hampshire and elsewhere in New England should be considered before Hanscom.

  • 10/11/01 Lincoln Journal: ShhAir founding member Jim Henderson has been appointed as a member of Lincoln's Conservation Commission, particularly for his technical expertise on complex Hanscom issues.

  • 9/30/01 Globe: Waltham City Councilors recently reiterated their concerns over Hanscom noise, traffic, and expansion issues.

  • 9/9/01 Globe: Minute Man National Historical Park now boasts a herd of 330 sheep to add to the historic ambiance and to keep the weeds under control.

  • 6/29/01 Globe: Editorial saying "The national parks are a gift, and government must preserve them for future generations - not chip away at their treasures to please a narrow, vocal constituency."  We could not have said it better.

  • 6/21/01 Concord Minuteman: Save Our Heritage thanks supporters for attending last weeks benefit.

  • 12/31/00 Globe: Save Our Heritage has announced a coalition with Walden Woods to protect the Hanscom/Walden areas. Celebrity endorsements have come from Don Henley, Christopher Reeve, and Ed Begley Jr.

  • 8/10/00 Burlington Union: The Town of Burlington is getting concerned about expansion at Hanscom.

  • 8/3/00 Concord Journal: A large rally at the Old Manse in Concord took place on August 2. Many local, state, and federal officials signed "Hanscom at the Crossroads," a declaration calling for a moratorium on increased commercial air traffic and expansion at Hanscom.

  • 7/13/00 Lincoln Journal: ShhAir presented Governor Celluci with a petition calling for no commercial aviation at Hanscom.

  • 7/6/00 Concord Journal: HATS recommends a moratorium on commercial airline operations at Hanscom.
