Letter: Thanks to town for FedEx ban

Congratulations to the Lexington Board of Selectmen, who voted to halt the use of FedEx by the town until the company abandons its plans to begin flying into Hanscom. I am pleased that the board is taking a leadership role in the ongoing struggle to oppose expansion at Hanscom. Their efforts help to preserve the significant historical heritage of Lexington and the neighboring towns, protect our children and schools from noise blight inflicted by large jets using the airport, and keep our roadways free from potentially unsafe large-scale trucking.

I would also encourage others to follow the lead of the selectmen and other members of the community and stop using FedEx until we hear that they will not come to Hanscom. If you do stop using FedEx, and want to send a letter to the CEO Fred Smith to let him know why, go to www.shhair.org for a sample letter.
