Letter: Stop FedEx, write to pols

Hanscom Airport, the second busiest airport in all of New England, will be even busier if FedEx is allowed to go through with its plan to begin operations there in the fall. Even worse, the Battle Road's two overcrowded lanes will have an additional load of 28 18-wheeler trucks for each FedEx Airbus 300 cargo flight. Currently, FedEx says it will have one Airbus 300 flight a day but we have already seen how quickly Shuttle America doubled and quadrupled its number of daily flights. FedEx can be expected to do the same.

In order to stop this situation that poses such a great threat to our community, our transportation plan, and our national park, we need all interested persons to write, phone, or fax Gov. Romney, Sens. Kerry and Kennedy, and Fred Smith, CEO of FedEx. A very easy way to do this is to go to www.shhair.org/actionalerts.asp and follow the directions to fax these people. Please have your family and friends join in this effort. We need a very strong showing to accomplish our goal.

For more information on how to obtain lawn signs, bumper stickers, or postcards to our elected representatives, contact ShhAir at 781-674-9755 or Save Our Heritage at 978-369-6662. Thank you for your help. Together we can be very powerful.
