Shuttle America officials said Monday the company will continue to operate
between Bedford's Hanscom Field and Trenton, N.J., with four round trips
daily, until at least the end of the year.

The regional commuter airline, based in Fort Wayne, Ind., had planned on
discontinuing Bedford-Trenton service as of May 31. "But we are amazed at
the number of e-mails and calls that we've received about continuing the
service," chief executive Scott Durgin said.

In the meantime, Boston-Maine Airways expects to introduce service March 29
between Bedford and Trenton, with three round trips each day, said Dan
Fortnam, marketing and sales vice president. Boston-Maine is based in
Portsmouth, N.H.

"We're ready to go head to head" with Shuttle America, he added. Shuttle
America does business as US Airways Express, while Boston-Maine operates as
Pan Am Clipper Connection.
