Letter: Program will feature MMNHP

We urge all citizens of Concord, Lexington, Lincoln and Bedford to watch "America's Most Endangered 2003" on the History Channel this Saturday, July 12, at 8 p.m. This special program, part of the Emmy Award-winning series "Save Our History," profiles America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places as recently designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

It will prominently feature the threat posed to Minute Man National Historical Park by the expansion of the Hanscom Field civilian airport. The segment will include interviews with renowned historians and environmentalists who serve on the Save Our Heritage advisory board and support our efforts to preserve these national treasures for future generations.

Sadly, in June we lost a member of our advisory board when America lost a great talent and humanitarian, Gregory Peck. Mr. Peck joined the board in 1999 and has been a profound inspiration to us over the past four years. Angelica Huston called him her "moral compass" and said that he became involved in "all things good."

This Saturday, the History Channel will begin the national media awareness campaign that will result in our winning this preservation battle and honoring the spirit and goodwill of Americans with courage, sensitivity, and foresight - people like Gregory Peck.
