Letter: Next six months critical to future

The next six months represent the defining moment in the future of Hanscom Field, the four towns surrounding it and Minute Man Park. Everyone reading this letter help turn this defining moment into a victory.

As many of you know, FedEx is not only talking about, but actively planning operations from Hanscom. Right now, this means they will bring one Airbus-300 jet into and out of Hanscom every evening and that jet will require 28 18-wheeler truck trips to service it. This is not speculation -- FedEx told us this last week in a series of meetings with Minute Man National Park, ShhAir, and Save Our Heritage.

And once cargo is here, we may never be able to stop it. FedEx can grow its operations and other cargo carriers can follow suit.

If you wait to get involved until after cargo operations start at Hanscom, it will be too late. We need your efforts, ideas, and passion. Whatever your strength, we can find a productive way for you to help.

Please log onto the ShhAir web site at www.shhair.org or call us at
781-674-9755 to volunteer. Thank you. You can make a profound difference
in the future of Concord and the rest of the nation.
