Massport official peeved by letter

To the editor:

In Anna West Winter’s June 13, letter, "Massport Director’s Thoughts Questioned," Ms. Winter unfairly uses part of a quote from Mr. Coy and omits the beginning of his statement which reads: "The communities have an important role…" In fact, throughout his comments Mr. Coy emphasized his commitment to citizenship and awareness and sensitivity to community concerns.

Ms. Winter appears more intent on inciting a public response than on working together and collaboratively on the issues that concern Hanscom Field and its neighbors. Escalating the rhetoric is counterproductive and only makes communication more difficult.

In his first interview with Barbara Forester, Mr. Coy went on to say: "We should be able to work together in good faith and resolve our differences before they harden into conflict. "I invite Ms. Winter to allow the frost to thaw into spring for Massport and the Hanscom communities.
