Manpower: The installation will lose 47 military and 223 civilians and
gain 546 military and 828 civilians for a gain total of 499 military and
605 civilians.

Realign Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, by
relocating the Information Systems Directorate to Hanscom AFB. Realign
Air Force Research Laboratory, Hanscom by relocating the Sensors
Directorate to Wright-Patterson AFB and the Space Vehicles Directorate
to Kirtland AFB, N.M. Realign Wright-Patterson AFB, Maxwell AFB, Ala.,
and Lackland AFB, Texas, by relocating Air & Space Information Systems
Research and Development & Acquisition to Hanscom AFB.

Incoming Activities:

What: AFRL Information Systems Directorate from Wright-Patterson AFB to
Hanscom AFB.

Why: This recommendation realigns and consolidates portions of the Air
Force and Army Research Laboratories to provide greater synergy across
technical disciplines and functions. It does this by consolidating
geographically separate units of the Air Force and Army Research
Laboratories.

What: Air & Space Information Systems Research and Development &
Acquisition from Wright-Patterson AFB, Maxwell AFB and Lackland AFB to
Hanscom AFB.

Why: This recommendation will reduce the number of technical facilities
engaged in Air & Space Sensors, Electronic Warfare, & Electronics and
Information Systems RDAT&E. This, in turn, will increase the likelihood
of fielding interoperable systems, reduce overlapping infrastructure,
and increase the efficiency of operations.
